Serie A champion Juventus officially announced the signing with the former Inter Milan defender Lucio and the contract will last to June 30, 2014.

A brief statement of the Juventus in the official website confirmed the signing: “Lucio has been the owner of Roma shirt . The Brazilian defender on a free transfer signs a two-year contract with Juventus. He will work for the club till to 2014.”

The 34-year-old Brazilian defender in the local time last Friday terminated the contract with Inter Milan and he was considered to transfer to Turkey’s Fenerbahce. But immediately the media linked him with Juventus and after he decided to leave Inter Milan even disclosed that he had reached agreement with Juventus. On July 4, Lucio came to Turin for the last negotiations and passed the physical examination.

In an interview with the Juventus official official radio, Lucio said: “I am so happy. It will be a new experience and a new chapter in my life. I am looking forward to put on the Juventus football shirt.

The past memories will accompany me but I hope to continue to enjoy success. I believe the most important is today and tomorrow, yesterday has become history. I think we need right guidance. You have to train seriously every day and make every effort for victory. Juventus has always the strong team, when I came to Italy, someone told me like that. It is apparent with a new stadium, Juventus has a greater ambition. The strong support of the fans brings more passion to the Juventus players.”

Lucio has joined Juventus and is the fifth signing of Juventus in this summer after Asamoach, Isla, Leali and Pogba. In order to keep the hard-won Serie A titles in the new season and to attack the Champions League, the Old Lady is making preparation in an orderly manner. Competing in three tournaments, they cannot rely on Bonucci, Barzagli and Chiellini to defend without any rest. With the increase of age, the physical fitness inevitably declines, but as the main substitute, he is a good choice. Eventually as they wished, they signed him. And it is the second sign from Milan City after they signed Pirlo from AC Milan.
