It has been a decade of magic — the magic of Harry Potter and his world. Since 1997, it has bewitched millions of people of all ages across the globe. Just a couple of months ago, the seventh book and the movie based on the fifth book were released. Just when we Potterheads thought it was time we said goodbye to the beautiful, magical, yet dark and dangerous world of Harry Potter, Warner Bros. and the Universal Resort Orlando disclosed their plans to open a ‘theme park in a park’ based on our very own Potter boy and his magical world. Now that is some treat for all those Potterheads out there, including me of course.

The theme park is, at present, being planned out rather meticulously to ensure its credibility. As to ensure authenticity and provide a very British atmosphere to the theme park, a group of 20 people consisting of engineers, architects, draftsmen and those who have been involved in the making of the HP movies are working hard on the plans of the park. So we Potterheads can be sure that the theme park is going to be exactly like the real world of Harry and his friends as portrayed in the books and the movies. The idea of the HP theme park has also been encouraged by J.K. Rowling. She has also been working on this project with Warner Bros. and Universal Resort Orlando.

According to the Universal Studios representative and Potter set designer Stuart Craig, the HP theme park is planned to open to the public in early 2010, hopefully before the release of the seventh HP movie, according to the sources. It would be built in the ‘Islands of Adventure’ area of the Universal Resort. According to Rowling, the plans of the park she has seen until now seem to be ‘promising’. She says that the park would not disappoint the fans. Now, no Potter fan would want to be disappointed with being right into the middle of all the action, would they? Not me.

Of course, you guys would want to know what places they will be showing in the theme park. I can tell you a few: there would be the Hogwarts (obviously!) School, Hogsmeade village and the eerie Forbidden Forest. But I do hope the people involved in the project will also build the Ministry of Magic, Diagon Alley, Quidditch, the Weasleys’ house and the Hogwarts Express. It would be like a dream come true for the Potter fans who have spent the last decade dreaming about being a witch or a wizard and attending Hogwarts instead of those boring old Muggle schools.

Just the thought that we will be able to do everything we had been dreaming of doing ever since the Harry potter phenomena started back in 1997 is so exhilarating. We could drink the Butterbeer and the Firewhisky, play Quidditch, shop in the Diagon Alley, and eat all the yummy mouth-watering food in the Great Hall at Hogwarts (who cares if a whole lot of house-elves made the food, Hermione!).

To fulfil the dreams of the millions of Potter fans across the globe, Warner Bros. and the Universal Studios are planning to employ ‘state of the art’ technology in order to make the theme park exactly like the world of Harry Potter portrayed in the books and the movies. For this purpose, there would also be many special effects so as to give the theme park an authentic atmosphere of the British wizarding community as depicted in the books. Looks like all kinds of things are being done so as to not disappoint the fans of the books and the movies, as well as those who are frequent visitors of theme parks and amusement parks.

Surely, everyone’s hearts will be racing away with excitement. Unfortunately, you will have to wait for a while as the theme park is still being planned and the construction has not even started yet. But as all of you are used to waiting for the HP books and movies, so why not wait for this thrilling theme park.
