The people living in the vicinity of the airport are protesting against the expansion of the Heathrow Airport in London. They maintain that the proposed expansion would further aggravate the pollution problem of the world. It is believed that a plane emits so much gas in just six hours of flight that a car would take six months to produce.

The manager of the airport, however, thinks that the expansion is necessary to accommodate more planes in the airfield. For now individuals too have their own planes apart from the state and they need more space to park.

The environmentalists too have their own point of view about the expansion of the airport. Just consider what would happen to the world if no airports were to be constructed and the airplanes vanished. Life would become easier. No noise would come from the space. No bombs would be dropped on us killing and injuring millions. We will need months to cover a short distance. While we will not go back to the horseback or use camels for transportation, life would get slower, and cars, bikes, trucks and trains would be the fastest means of travel. Except for the busy bees, there would be no problem for others to travel. Children of the future would see pictures of the plane amazingly and ask their parents, “What are these heavy machines carrying people in their bellies?”

But this is wishful thinking and does not carry weight. Genii un-bottled a long time back cannot be bottled again.
