Are you depressed and frustrated because people always make fun of your chubby bodies? Well don’t be, because you can become smart within a matter of months. All you guys need to do is to read on.

A smart and slim body not only looks good but it is also good from the medical point of view. Before you begin I need to tell you that consistency is the key here.

If you are not consistent you will not be able to achieve your goal. You might not be able to see the results instantaneously but after a few months of following a regular programme you would be astonished when you look at yourself. Here are a few tips to lose those extra pounds:

Diet

Well let’s face it, in order to achieve something you have to lose something. This time it has to be the junk food you eat. Also cut down on cola drinks because they are very fattening and contain lots of calories (the energy value of food is counted in calories; if your body doesn’t use all the calories you eat then it is stored as fat). Take food from all sources i.e. meat 12 per cent, fruits and vegetables 33 per cent, breads and cereals 33 per cent, milk and dairy foods 15 per cent, fatty and sugary stuff seven per cent.


Exercise

Once you have a proper diet plan you’ll need to burn off those extra calories that you have already gained. For this you’ll have to exercise. Exercises are not always very boring, they can be fun too. Some fun exercises are given below:

• Swimming: Everyone loves to swim, so go on and get wet. It will be a good idea to learn how to swim this summer. Join a swimming club and try to swim at least three days a week.

• Cycling: Cycling is also a fun exercise. Put those headphones on and start cycling. Get a speedometer installed on your cycle. It doesn’t cost much (around Rs300). You’ll love cycling with your favourite music in the background.

• Skating: You can buy skateboard or roller blades and start skating in your neighbourhood. You can also buy a pogo stick and start jumping here and there.

• Sports: You can always indulge yourself in your favourite sports. Be it cricket, hockey or football; all of them are fun. You can even gather a bunch of friends and organise a tournament of some sort.

• Weight training: For those of you who want to show off their muscular body start weight training. Start with lighter weights first and then gradually increase. Join the nearest gym if you are old enough.

These activities will not only make your vacations fun but also enable you to achieve your goal and you’ll have a new and graceful body. So shut the mouths that have always called you names once and for all. Now I am going to workout myself. Signing Off!
