You design a website. Now you want the world to notice it. There are hoard of websites that lure you by offering promises that your site will be included in their listings within hours. I too tried several of them. Only submitting your site to these search engines will not help. You as well as the search engine may not know what the user will be typing in the search box and what keywords have these search engines picked up from your page. For proper optimization, the website and its header tags (H) as well as the title tag must always be kept updated.

Search Engines use several algorithms to index a page and these algorithms change from time to time. These algorithms are not even made public. Each has its own way.

Search engine optimization, therefore, is a means of designing a website, and its individual pages, so that you meet the requirements of the algorithm that is used to determine how it relates to the search terms used by the search engine customers.

There is more to designing a website than making it pretty and the most important part is to provide information to visitors on the search term that they use to reach you.

There are several SEO experts can get you in the top 10, but not for any keywords worth having. You better do it yourself. Put your keyword as part of your title and within the (TITLE) tags, use the page keyword in (H1) tags as the main heading.
Use it again as part of an (H2) sub-heading. The best way is to keep your keyword in the first 100 characters and again in the last paragraph: once in every 500 words.

Make sure that the spiders see your page title first, then the heading next. That will tell them what the most important text on your page is, and hence the topic of the page. The sub-headings will reinforce that, but only if they are in H2 till H3. There is no need to get beyond H3.

SPIDERS ???? Search Engine use software called crawlers or spiders that read your page and it should come across links leading from your page until it has read all your text. Then lead it to where you want it next

As said earlier, do your own SEO. If you fail to get listed within two weeks you are doing something wrong, and you need to rework on the tags.

Be honest to your visitors. Look at your home page, and decide what you want to be the most important parts of it. Then think where you would want your visitors eyes to go on your page to be given the best information. USE HTML to make sure that the search engines crawl your page exactly that way you want them read.

This is the most preferred way of SEO, by several Webmasters. To sum up, it’s the keywords: fist in title, then in the headers and sub headers and finally inn the body.

Many people also use the (META) tag to put in keywords. That may help. However, do not rely solely on these (META) tags
